The Guns Control Act (1968).

The Gun Control Act of 1968 is a federal law of the united states which firearm industry regulation Act which also includes the owners of firearms. It is an act which takes care of the interstate commercialization of firearms which prohibits buying and selling of firearms except for licensed dealers, manufacturers, and importers. The reason for choosing this policy is because it has been at the center of contested debate because of incidences of gun homicides, mass shooting, or its use in theft.


There have been many instances in the united states where gun-tottering individuals have engaged in terrorist activities and killed innocent and unarmed civilians. Also, illegal firearms have been used by drug peddling cartels to enforce their mark in territories resulting in the death of both gang members and innocent civilians. Many American citizens can acquire licensed guns in they meet the criteria set by federal law. However, there have been numerous incidences where domestic disputes have been boiled to use of firearms against spouses, family members or visitors. Also, some students are reported to have carried guns to schools and opened it to fellow student causing massive distress to both students in that school and parents. Therefore, the aspect of gun possession and acquisition is an aspect which requires critical review and evaluation of the security of those who own the guns and unarmed civilians.

The authors attempt to find a common ground regarding the problem of civilians using licensed firearms to maim or kill other civilians. The article offers a glimpse of how the contributors give rational support on the aspect of buying and selling of guns in the united states of America.

The concept which is expounded most by the authors is that the society is masculine dominated, however, not all people who fit into that category. These are the people who use the loopholes in the federal law and end up misusing licensed guns. It also takes into consideration to the defenders of the second amendment in that the society has bought the idea of individualism which gives breath to the idea of individual ownership of guns.

It explores the public opinion polls regarding understanding the gun control policies.

The article then suggests ways to modify the existing gun control policies to prevent future shooting incidences.
